Portraits
Portraiture is my other love: here we are looking to capture the essence of a person rather than of an event or situation. There are no distractions – we are spending time gently yet single-mindedly exploring the different aspects of what makes up this human being.
I always work on location, in an environment that is either familiar to the subject or one that they have selected as being appropriate in some way. I try to use the natural light that is available – gently adding when necessay. We'll begin the session by talking for a while so I get to know some of the facets of the complex person before me before we move into taking pictures.
A sitting will normally last for about an hour – plenty of time to get relaxed and comfortable with the most shy or reluctant subject. On the other hand, children often have their own ideas of how they want to express and present themselves – this is made easier by having the display screen on the camera where they can instantly see the results of their creativity.
The cost of a session is £95 and you are then free to view all the results and to make your selections. After subtle yet significant improvements are made to the original image, prints are made by an award-winning lab to the highest professional standards: yet the prices are carefully kept to an affordable level so that you can have what you want without feeling compromised by cost.
