❖ Portraiture and lifestyle photography allows a gentler, more contemplative approach: there is no hurry - time to engage with you without distractions, to get to know you a little, to develop trust and explore the mood of the moment.
I always work on location, in an environment that is either familiar to you or one that you have selected as being appropriate in some way. I use the natural light that is available whenever possible – gently adding when necessary. We'll begin a session by chatting for a while and becoming comfortable before we move into taking pictures.
A sitting will normally last for about an hour – plenty of time for the most shy or reluctant subject to become relaxed and comfortable. On the other hand, children often have their own ideas of how they want to express and present themselves – this is made easier by having the display screen on the camera where they can instantly see the results of their creativity.
After the session you are free to view the results in a password protected area of the website, and to make your selections. Subtle yet significant re-touching is made to the original image and prints are made by an award-winning lab to the highest professional standards and can be mounted in a variety of frames or in one of the many contemporary ways that are now available.
My pricing structure is the same as for any other event - firstly, I give you a one hour meeting completely free so that we can discuss what you're wanting from the session and so I can get to know you a little. Then a one hour photo session on location is £95, which includes a free 8" x 10 print of your choice and travel up to 20 miles from York. Print prices for further prints are the same extremely reasonable standard prices the I use for weddings.
There are no hidden extras.
